Tips for waking up early!
While waking up early has a lot of pros, it’s equally challenging. Like, waking up on time is the toughest part of the morning for most people and we’re talking about waking up early? Well, if you want to make the most of your 24 hours, this is something you should definitely give a shot to. If you are out of ideas on how to make it happen, here are some tips for waking up early irrespective of your sleep habits.
Why should you wake up early?
Is it a habit of successful people? Well, Apple CEO Tim Cook wakes up at 3:45 AM. Twitter and Square CEO Jack Dorsey is up by 5:30 AM and NextDesk director Dan Lee starts his day at 3:30 AM. The endless other names continuing the list well validate “Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise”!
If this isn’t enough motivation, waking up early has also been linked to better productivity. It sets you ahead of your peers and also helps you steer clear of distractions since most aren’t up early!
How to wake up early?
Determined to wake up early? Here’s how to start!
Go to bed early
If you want to wake up early, go to bed early and make sure to get a minimum of 7 hours of sleep. Here are some tips to help you get to bed on time:
- Avoid looking at screens 30 mins prior to bed. The Bluelight radiation emitted by screens disrupts the sleeping schedule.
- Try reading a book or listening to relaxing music to help you fall asleep faster.
- Taking a warm bath will help you relax and sleep better!
Get out of the bedroom
Hitting the bed can be tempting even after you’re up. To prevent going back, get out of the bedroom as soon as you’re up. Researches say you’re more prone to falling asleep in the bedroom since the brain is conditioned to feel sleepy in it.
Plan your morning
To motivate yourself to wake up early, plan your morning in advance and try to keep things handy. For example, if you exercise first thing in the morning, keep your workout clothes handy. This will help you speed up and leave the bed faster.
Reward yourself
Once you manage to get up early, take a little time and reward yourself. Little rewards like 15 mins extra self-care or some extra time to cook your favorite meal can go a long way.
Be consistent
While it’s okay to sleep in on the days you don’t feel very great, remember to not give in to excuses. A rainy day or cloudy weather can tempt you to sleep in but once you break the habit, it will be hard to get back.
