Power of Music in health and healing — A Lust for life
Music is a natural healing aid that strengthens the physiological wellbeing which is very much required in today's hectic lifestyle.
“One good thing about music, when it hits you feel no pain” — Bob Marely.
We all self-medicate through music. But most people have not fully grasped about how much we depend on music to manage our emotions and how powerful the medical evidence on music therapy is. Music has a positive amplifying effect on our mind and body thus providing an outlet to boost the mood and memory. Music industry is transforming into wellness music with its unique healing power that most of the time even the medical prescriptions fail to do.
The potential of music therapy is so immense and untapped that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) just awarded $20 million to fund a Sound Health Initiative that will undertake studies to uncover music’s mechanisms of action in the brain. The notion of using song, sound frequencies and rhythm to treat physiological ailments is a new domain.

Motivational music typically has a fast beats or tempo, a strong rhythm, inspiring lyrics and an uplifting structure which can increase energy and mood thus inducing bodily actions. It has been recognized as an effective form of therapy that has a positive effect on blood parameters. “We have found compelling evidence that musical interventions can play a health care role in settings ranging from operating rooms to family clinics,” Levitin, author of the book “This is Your Brain on Music,” (Plume/Penguin,2007). The analysis points to how listening to music enhances the production of antibody immunoglobulin A and natural killer cells(that attack invading viruses), thus boosting the immune system. It reduces the stress hormone cortisol.

Music increases the Verbal intelligence and improves the academic performance of children. “There is growing scientific evidence showing that the brain responds to music in very specific ways,” says Lisa Hartling, PhD, professor of pediatrics at the University of Alberta. To help children achieve academic excellence, encourage them to sing or to learn to play an instrument.credit: third party image reference
Listen to your body.
Pay attention to how your body reacts to different forms of music, and pick the kind that works for you. If you love listening to music, you are in good company.

Music helps to eat less. “There's a friendly tie of some sort between music and eating” —Thomas Handy. If you are looking for ways to curb your appetite (in a healthy way), try dimming the lights and listening to soft music the next time you sit down for a meal. “This is one reason why music is associated with relaxation”, Levitin says. Music is based on relationships between one note and the next. You may not be aware of it, but your brain has a lot to do with it, notes one of otolaryngologist.credit: third party image reference
Roughly 75 percent report they listen to music to reduce stress, and that listening to music is key to producing their best work. Research proves that when you listen to music you like, your brain releases dopamine, a “feel-good” neurotransmitter. Music is the true breath of life. We eat so we won't starve to death. We sing so we can hear ourselves live.

Many people around us seem normal, but when you talked to them, they may get exhausted, they may get tears in their eyes, feel uncomfortable talking, and don't even answer you properly; why does this so?
We might sometimes think about that person, that he\she is arrogant, don't like talking with us, don't want to share things with us, behind all these person actions, and unable to recognize the problem.
So, when we feel this kind of personal behavior, we must understand that the he\she is going through a depression, and this depression makes him\her a depressed person.
When we recognize that this person is depressed, we must try to do something to make him\her better, to make them happy. What do you know about how we can make them happy?
some steps should be done to make your loved ones into a happy person, to make him\her normal who can normally participate in daily activities which are as follows.
1.Listen to them carefully:
when someone tries to communicate with you without any hesitation and telling you all their life problems, you must carefully listen to them.
When you'd listen to them, you must ask several questions that you might think they will answer you. Don't try to do those questions that make them sad.
Ask questions to get more information instead of assuming you understand what they mean. Validate their feelings. You might say, “That sounds difficult. I’m sorry to hear that.” Show empathy and interest in your body language.
Please keep in contact with that person because he\she only thinks of you as a source for communication, hoping that he might help him get rid of this problem.
2. Help them in participating in daily home activities:
if you live with a depressing person, who is your family member or a friend, then what you have to do is allow them to do home tasks.
Allow them to play with you, take them to a grocery market, or for shopping from which you think they might feel relaxed.
Take them to the coffee shop, do funny things to make them happy. They forget about the things they'd enter into their brain for no purpose to make themselves depressed for no reason.
3.Support them for medication treatment:
many people haar of king medication, going to doctors; depressing people also avoid going to doctors to avoid contact with them; they feel hesitant because of little understanding.
When a doctor prescribes them medication to take it daily to get better health, they don't regularly or misuse it.
You have to support them and give proper instructions in a proper friendly way not to misuse it, take it regularly, and tell them that this medication will help you get out of this disease.
4.Tell them to do exercise:
exercise plays an important role in maintaining mood. It helps in stabilizing the mood. For example, when you are doing exercise, take them with you also.
Exercise is especially helpful for them in removing their worthless moods. Take them on long walks, long drives, let yourself play with them like basketball, do skipping, etc.
We can become a good source for someone's happiness. Only your efforts towards them make their lives back to normal. If you fully support them. Suppose you don't give up on them.
You always wanted a person you love the most can never get in trouble ever, so you can take any step to make them a better person.
Only your efforts can turn a depressed person into a normal healthy, happy person. Only you can treat them with love, with patience, with tolerance. You're basic support towards them.
So be patient with them, give love, become a pillar for them, make them laugh, make them smile, let yourself make funny jokes for them to make them happy.
