Challenges faced by teenagers in the modern world
This is the generation that is trying to find stability in this fast moving world. The world is changing everyday with increasing pace. People regularly face the dynamic situations of life, career, relationships and the ever changing society. This is a highly materialistic world where things change according to professional needs and the teenagers are forced to adjust to the changes. Sometimes they are at the verge of failures and sometimes in the joy of victories. Digitalisation and computerization has increased to a very high level. The various mobile applications are designed in such a way that they can easily hold the attention of the user for a very long time. As a result people get addicted to such applications and loose interest in other important activities of life. This has even resulted in decreased socialisation of people. They now remain alone most of the time. But human beings are social animal and the consequences of loneliness is huge. This leads to depression and anxiety and the cases of depression in teenagers is the highest of all.
Another major struggle of teenagers is the fear of acceptance. Even the most self-assured person struggle for acceptance from time to time. They face huge emotional turbulence. They are at risk of mental and physical health issues. The growing pressure from society to be the best, pressure from parents, friends, school, all lead to the creation of stress among the teenagers. As a result, they lack confidence and struggle in even the easiest task at hand. Very often the stress combined with depression leads to self harm. The teenagers today lack good mentors, role models, and heroes. Many a times they are tempted to begin unhealthy patterns with drugs and alcohol.
All these challenges can be adequately faced. All the problems needs to be identified and then necessary changes need to be brought. A calm and peaceful mind can do wonders and a healthy environment is a must for it. Teenagers today do not require excessive strictness. They need continual warmth, care, and support. They need to be taught strong social and emotional skills. Positive peer relationships should be encouraged. The teenagers are the future of the world. They will create the world of tomorrow, but for that they require support today.
